Family

Maltzan or Maltzahn is the name of ancient nobility from Mecklenburg and Pomerania, which first appears in records with Bernhardus de Mulsan as arbitrator in Isfrieds partition treaty of 1194. Their families are often mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register as vassals of Ratzeburg bishop.
The Genealogical Tree begins with Ludolf Moltzan, which is called as Burgmann Gadebusch in the years 1256-1283.
